Sean is an entrepreneurial-minded Iowa City, Iowa native who enjoys cooking and spending time with his wife and stepson when he is not nerding out. When he is not hatching new schemes and business ventures, Sean can usually be found reading or trying to organize a potluck with friends and family.
Sean first started with computers when he was a kid, when he would regularly play cribbage on his parent's Macintosh. He learned the basics of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) at an early age and was quickly taken with the raw ability to create new things from it. In later years, he honed his skills with HTML, keeping up with the change to HTML 4 and then the dalience into XTHML. When he first heard about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Sean felt as though he had discovered the holy grail. Eventually he got the hang of javascript and when jquery came along, he dove in headfirst and never looked back.
Sean discovered Drupal through his first business venture, a t-shirt screen printing business. He wanted to build a website for his company and had decided to use a Content Management System (CMS). After trying PHPNuke, PostNuke, Joomla, and OSCommerce, he finally found the CMS that would change his life forever. He built his first Drupal site in 2004 in version 4.5. Although the web work was secondary to t-shirt print, Sean quickly discovered that his passion lay with developing websites and eventually quick printing t-shirts when he'd realized that he spent all his time on the website.
Before founding Web Geeks For Hire, Sean worked as a .NET web developer and designer for other companies, some of whom still do business with Web Geeks. He doesn't understand how to play chess until there are only 5 pieces or less on the board, but he wishes that he did.
